Private instruction at Mutiny is not a smaller class. It is a different model entirely.
You are not taught alongside strangers. You do not wait for a slower student to catch up, or rush for a faster one. Whether you are training alone, with a partner, or with a tight group of friends, the pool session happens when your schedule allows it. The open-water dives happen when conditions are right and you are ready. The certification is awarded when you are competent — not when the calendar says four days have passed.
What you receive in return is what every dive shop client wishes they had: an instructor whose entire attention is on your group, who answers every question, who watches every fin kick, and who delivers divers who can actually dive.

Competence over completion
You are certified when you are competent. Not when the schedule allows. When you are.
What clients
ask.
I.
Why is Mutiny more than a dive shop course?
Because you receive a Course Director one-on-one for the full progression, with paramedic-level medical capability, concierge logistics, and competency-based completion. The cost reflects the entire delivery, not just the certification.
II.
How long does certification take?
Open Water typically completes across 4–6 sessions over 2–3 weeks, scheduled around your calendar. Faster is possible. Slower is fine. The metric is competence, not time.
III.
Where does the training happen?
Pool sessions take place at a private partner pool in the Pompano Beach area. Open water dives take place along the South Florida coast — including reef and wreck sites accessible from local charter operations.
IV.
Can I switch formats between courses?.
Yes. Many clients start Open Water one-on-one for the deepest skill foundation, then bring a partner or friends in for Advanced or Specialty courses. Format is chosen per course, not locked for the full progression.
V.
What about medical clearance?
A standard recreational diving medical questionnaire is required before any in-water training. Conditions that flag the questionnaire require a physician's clearance. Mutiny's instructor is qualified to discuss medical considerations and refer to dive medicine specialists when warranted.
VI.
Do I need to own equipment?
Not for your initial certification. Quality rental gear is arranged for every session. As you progress, Mutiny advises on equipment selection — there is no in-house shop and no obligation to purchase from any partner.
